Hydrostop BR

Hydrophilic Waterbar

Description

Hydrostop BR is a hydrophilic synthetic rubber waterstop with a sodium bentonite component. It is designed to swell when in contact with water to provide an effective watertight seal in construction joints in concrete. Expansion of the waterstop creates a positive pressure against the faces of the construction joint in cast in-situ concrete, creating a joint which is resistant to hydraulic pressure.

Hydrostop BR has a swelling capacity in excess of 400% of its original size. The sodium bentonite component provides extra protection. The expansive clay will penetrate and effectively seal any shrinkage cracks that may form in concrete.

Uses

Hydrostop BR is used for the integral sealing of both horizontal and vertical construction joints in cast in-situ concrete. It is also suitable for sealing around pipe penetrations and other components where an active seal against water ingress is required.

It may be used in the place of conventional PVC water bars as an effective method of preventing the passage of water at construction joints, however, it should not be used for the sealing of movement or expansion joints. Structures include basements, tunnels, culverts, swimming pools, lift pits, retaining walls and other structures which require resistance to water.
