ExCel Exhibition Centre – Phase 3

2024

The Challenge

First established in 2000, the ExCel Centre required further refurbishment to accommodate more significant exhibitions and events.

The new extension features a vibrant yellow new entrance, where the new building itself is set to contain a multi-purpose, highly flexible performing events area in which to host concerts, trade shows, conferences and private functions.

The Challenge:

  • The structure incorporated an extensive services tunnel running the length of the structure. This critical space required a Grade 2 environment in accordance with BS8102: 2022.
  • This is a sheet piled structure, and the originally specified system included a Bentonite membrane. Due to the large volume of vertical installation, this posed a challenge for the installation team due to a demanding method of install.

The Solution:

  • Our Maxiprufe Plus membrane was selected for its light weight, self-healing properties. Advantages of this product also include the ability to be installed at speed to large areas of vertical surface, including the need to fix to polystyrene void former, which ultimately saved time. There was also a need for an overall single source warranty throughout the project, which Premcrete were able to provide.
