The Challenge

Premcrete were invited to review details for this residential development in London, which comprises a Grade 3 single-storey basement and 2 ground level blocks, requiring a combined system of gas and waterproofing protection.

Based on the GEA Ground Investigation Report, the site was confirmed as a CS2 Gas Risk, and stated that any VOC’s within the ground are below the required protection level. The client was opposed to the idea of wrapping pile caps and large transfer beams above an existing sewer.

The Solution

It was decided that the Premcrete’s 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐞 𝐋𝐆 was needed. This epoxy-based membrane emerged as a solution, staunchly guarding against the ingress of moisture and gas. Ditching conventional wrapping methods, it streamlined the waterproofing process with efficiency. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢-𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬 and 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐞 𝐋𝐆 were also utilised.

The solutions was rigorously tested to replicate a concrete-to-concrete bond, thus eliminating the need for wrapping caps.
